We have written before about the benefits of a new oral probiotic, and since Dr. Dillon and his staff are so impressed with its performance, we are doing it again! Oral probiotics are very important, and deserve a lot attention for the wonderful roles they can play on maintaining great oral health and family dental care. Here at Dillon Family Dentistry we are very passionate about our patient’s oral health, as well as its connection to their overall health.
What is it?
EvoraPro is a dissolvable, mint-flavored probiotic tablet that contains three types of naturally occurring, live bacteria. It was developed by a company called Oragenics, a world leader in oral probiotics for humans (and pets!) as well as an innovator in new antibiotics to fight infectious disease. This is just the kind of conservative dental product that helps us keep our focus on preventative dentistry for our patients.
How does it work?
Probiotics, in general, work by replacing disease-causing bacteria with beneficial bacteria. For example, yogurt contains digestive probiotics that encourage the growth of bacteria that are beneficial to one’s intestinal tract. Oral probiotics, however, encourage the growth of bacteria that are beneficial to one’s mouth, teeth, and gums.
When the EvoraPro tablet dissolves, the beneficial bacteria it contains bind to the teeth above and below the gumline. Crowding out all the undesirable bacteria and helping maintain a natural, healthy balance of beneficial oral bacteria. Eliminating the harmful bacteria, you are going to reduce cavities, gum disease, and bad breath.
How can I get it?
Professional-strength EvoraPro tablets are available for our patients at any time at Dillon Family Dentistry. However, it is best to have any plaque build-up removed and start the probiotics with a clean slate, so we recommend you cleaning with a good private dentist near you. Give us a call at 610-525-5497 to schedule any appointments and visit our dental office, or if you would like more information on this wonderful product!
Oral Probiotics could prove to be an important component for Dental Health in the future, and the future might be now!
